(3) The large and fat tongue:  it may be fat or swollen large.  The tongue body is larger than normal, at times it is literally a mouthful, and often accompanied by tooth print.  It is categorized as large and swollen when the tongue body is both large and swollen till it could hardly be kept inside a closed mouth.  This is often caused by stagnation of water, phlegm and dampness.  Swollen tongue is often caused by toxic heat, alcohol toxicity that resulted in Qi and blood’s upward rush, hence swollen tongue.
