Inspection Of Tongue Coating.
Source: Editor: Read:
1. Coating quality:
Coating quality refers to the texture quality of the fur on the tongue. This includes the thickness, moisture, roughness, curdling and greasy property, peeling, and with or without root of fur.
(1) Thickness: whether the coating is considered thin or thick is by judging whether the texture of the tongue can be vaguely seen through the coating fur. If the texture can be revealed, the coating is considered “thin”, otherwise it is considered “thick”. Thin coating
is produced by the stomach Qi, and it is considered quite normal. If it appears during illness, it is usually at the early stages of the exogenous disease. As for thick coating
, it indicates that pathogen has reached the interior, stagnating the stomach and intestinal Qi, the conditions are more serious. When the coating has changed from thick to thin, it indicates the return of Qi, the internal domination by the pathogen is beating a retreat, indicating a return to normalcy.
